Plot

Before Basilisk Isle was cultivated the land was a jumbled mess, the terrain had nothing to mark a difference, the only natural barrier was the coves and the water that protects the lower half of the Isle. In reality the Isle isn’t even that, just part of it is surrounded with water. When it was discovered, the race was a beautiful, lithe people and in a way they all resembled their future children…Elves. However, even the history of the Elves can recall this race for once you set your eyes on them a mystical spell came over you. Once they searched the land and found that it was not inhabited they decided to live and grow on the Isle.

They appealed to Mother Nature to help them create a haven for their people. A safe place that they could flourish and since they had no mark against them Nature helped with what they wished to do. The Moonstone Mountain Range was raised and the Canyon around Rune Kingdom was constructed. While this was happening great earthquakes opened holes in the Isle’s ground and Nature separated. Natural borders separate and join each kingdom together. These graceful and benevolent people built four of the five castles--Amethyst, Coral, Jade, and Amber. It took almost the whole of the race to get each room right, each block seamlessly connected, and the sealing protection that makes the castles indestructible.

After the lands were ready to live in the race split up into what is now the Kingdoms of Amethyst, Jade, Amber, and Coral. The Magical beings of the race took Amethyst as their home, building temples and shrines, creating seam lines of magic for their use. The other kingdoms helped because without a healer or Mage the others of the race couldn’t survive. So temples and shrines were constructed in the other kingdoms to help the Magical members of their family flourish.

In the Coral Kingdom the dancing and singing members lived. They created beautiful artworks calling on their Mother to create hills and plains that were for farming and living off of. Since a few of the other Kingdoms couldn’t raise crops for their own use they bought the grains and fruits from their cousins. The people of the Coral Kingdom didn’t wish to see the members of their family buy from them, they insisted upon giving them the grain. The rest forbid it, the family took seasons to plant and grow the crops that would feed them, it would be wrong to take advantage of them like that. Thus creating the Harvest season and the Day of Giving.

In the Amber Kingdom, where there are many caves/caverns, grasslands, savanna, and the coast the dark members of the family live. The darker magic that the race controlled lived here slinking around and keeping to themselves.

In the Jade Kingdom, a place of forest havens, the warrior and thief types of the family lived here. They helped the forest grow to create houses and cities out of the rock and wood that was in abundance there. They hired themselves out to protect the other Kingdoms from violent animals and creatures that they had never encountered before.

Thus the live that the Isle lives by today was created.

Centuries after the beautiful race died out, though, leaving only a few races with their characteristics, the High King sits on the throne of Rune Castle. This man has put everyone in danger and also has made the people fear and hate him. He’s killed many nobles and wishes the rightful High King dead even though he is on the verge of manhood. He’s taken a Princess as wife and captive against her will (see Needed Character thread).

Even though life goes as it normally does there is a small party that hopes and prays that the Princess and Prince (rightful High King) survive. This band hides so they don’t get their throats slit but they oppose the King in any way that they can. The only way they fear is to find the Mage and appeal to the Mage like the history says the beautiful race did with nature. However the Mage is hidden and no one has been able to find this mysterious figure.

To add to the hardship, men are being recruited for the Army. Any male between 18 and 45 must report to Rune City. A few spies for the Outer Kingdoms have fallen into Basilisk Isle and are planning a siege on the whole place. With famine, and people dying in Basilisk Isle, a war is brewing and the High King seems to be letting it happen.

People must ask the right questions to survive each day, so do you know what the right questions are?
